Aluna Green Secures ProColombia Grant for Cannabis Industry Growth
Santa Marta, Colombia – Aluna Green is proud to announce it has been awarded a prestigious government grant from ProColombia. This grant, part of the Cofinanciación 2024 initiative, aims to promote the sustainable development of Colombia's cannabis industry, with a special focus on advancing the productivity, quality, and innovation of local businesses in this burgeoning field.
The Cofinanciación 2024 initiative, led by ProColombia and executed by Colombia Productiva, provides co-financing to projects that contribute to the growth and sophistication of the cannabis and hemp industries in Colombia. Aluna Green's project, which was 1 of 30 selected among over 1,000 applicants, aims to expand the company’s capacity to meet both local and international demand for high-quality hemp and cannabis products.
"We are thrilled to have received this recognition and support from ProColombia," said Aluna Green CEO & Cofounder, Juan Pablo Mendez. "This grant not only validates our hard work but also strengthens our commitment to contributing to the sustainable growth of Colombia’s cannabis and hemp industry."
The government-backed grant is awarded to companies whose projects help build value chains, enhance productivity, and introduce innovative approaches to the sector. Aluna Green’s project focuses on advancing the agricultural processes and refining production methods, ensuring that Colombia’s cannabis industry meets international standards while offering economic and social benefits to local communities.
This funding will allow Aluna Green to further invest in research and development, particularly around sustainable cultivation practices and the use of cannabis in Organic, environmentally friendly products. The company aims to create jobs, foster innovation, and promote the global competitiveness of Colombia's cannabis sector.
ProColombia’s role in supporting this initiative is part of its broader effort to boost key industries in Colombia, including agriculture, technology, and manufacturing, with the ultimate goal of expanding Colombia’s presence in the international market.
Aluna Green’s success highlights the growing opportunities in Colombia’s cannabis sector, which is experiencing significant momentum due to the country’s progressive legal framework and the increasing global demand for hemp and cannabis products. With this funding, Aluna Green is well-positioned to lead the charge in creating a more sustainable and economically viable industry.
As one of the selected companies in this initiative, Aluna Green’s next steps will involve detailed operational planning and finalizing the necessary licenses before officially kicking off the project. The collaboration between Aluna Green and ProColombia represents a key milestone in the development of Colombia’s cannabis and hemp ecosystem, setting the stage for a more innovative and prosperous future.
